Keep losing fans

No matter how many stars I get doing every movie (always 3-5) I do nothing but lose fans. The reviews always say something like people enjoyed it. Is there some glitch or is there a max amount of fans one can have?
Also, I've been to the silver shellfish to meet Edmond, did his movie and everything, but I still have the goal to meet him. Is that a glitch or am I going to meet him way later on?
