If you break up with him, you will lose all progress, and he won't be on your phone for a few hours. After those hours, you can call him for dates again, but you'll be starting at 0. If he breaks up with you, and you pay stars to make up with him, you won't lose any progress.

I restarted at least five times and every single time, my enemy's name was Isabelle lol.

They disappear for a few hours. After that, they're back on your contact list and you can date them again without having to pay stars. This is such a helpful thread, but unfortunately, I'm still stuck at 2499/2500. I even restarted the game to no avail. :/
