Slugfest Mystery

I didnt play slugfest in 18', but decided to invest in a few sluggers boxes during last double gold event and was excited to give an official try for cycling this week and was surprised at how difficult it was. 

At level 5 I was getting matched with Gold level slugger even though I was only Silver. I thought it might be normal, but asking around people saying they hadn't encountered it. 

I ended up cycling twice but it was tough as nails. Below are screenshots of what I encountered. Has anyone else seen this?

Thats normal. The last 3 batters are always a tier above where you are. Nothing odd here.
