How many players do you keep inactive?

bombsaway02bombsaway02 Registered Users, Member 12 Posts
Curious as to how I should think about my growing number of inactive players. I trade in all the non-5 star guys and keep the ones with specialty skills but still have about a dozen guys inactive (ex-potw and potms, box pulls at positions I’m well served etc).

Am in bronze and now have 9 prime players, which I hear get really expensive once I’m finally forced to level up. So how do you all approach your inactive lists, and what’s the strategy behind it?

I am in gold, and my roster is loaded, so not sure my advice is the best for you.

Primes are really easy to level in silver, and not bad in gold, either.  You will definitely want a bxp option at every position, just in case you do have trouble.

I would trade any player without a skill, and even a few with single skills, unless they are useful for woh.

I keep at least 20 inactive spots open, at all times.  Those I use for opening garbage picks to trade in for bxp.  I lock all players that I don't want to accidentally trade in.  Every week or so, I have to trade in a couple players, just to keep enough spots open.

Almost nothing.....my bench looks like a crackheads house.....everything that can be ripped out and sold has.  I don’t save or recycle players at all.....always get new players for events/from CvC, save the ones that fit whatever squads I’m running  (mainly WOH with a growing cast of CvC specialists).  In my club if I tried to point by using a random yankee on yankee day for instance, I’d be kicked right out the door so really very little incentive to hoard at all.

I’ll keep a few guys that I know I’ll use on a specific day like CVC or WOH specialists I’m at about 5-8 rn bc after that I can’t manage constantly switching guys in and out

I am considering a full purge of my inactives, just to pad my bxp and pxp for future players.  Anyone have any advice that might bring me down from the ledge?

I would obviously keep all POTWs, just in case, but pretty much everyone else could be expendable.

My inactives look different than most.

Mine is is full of 3.5 and 4 star players. By full I mean probably 70/85 inactive spots. One day I had a lot of extra BXP and put them all at B10 knowing one more pull and they would be silver. Now anytime I pull one of those players from a draft pick (2nd round, 1st round, #1, division picks) I typically get 1200 BXP. It’s just another way to use those inactive spots to get more BXP.  I had thought of doing it, but @rmouse511 actually did it first and I followed his lead.

@Bigpredfan, that had never occurred to me before.  Pretty brilliant.

For the record, this is what a full purge would look like.  That leaves only former POTWs and keepers on my inactives list (keepers because I have neglected their skills).

I haven’t been as patient as others (or as big of grinders I guess) to build up resources... so typically I go through a purge once I jump a level (silver to gold, etc) when my resources get low and I want to cap my best players as quickly as possible

I do like @Bigpredfan strategy.... once I get to a better spot I’ll probably give that a try

@CanadaCubs I just decided not to lock any players until I had a full inactive list. Then I waited about 2-3 weeks and then locked all but the bottom 6 in terms of trade in value. Then I took all the ones I was keeping to B10. These were the ones I ended up pulling the most. I do have a few select that are 4.5 and 5-stars (that we’re leveled gold or beyond) that I’ve kept as well.

Even 2nd round picks can be exciting again!

Here is something that I feel differently about than most. I don’t care to save players that “could” be bonus players again in the future. POTW get traded in by my. Once I don’t need a player for my roster of walk-off, they are gone to give me a spot back to the inactives.

Its why im dying for the POTM from June to drop so I can trade them in

@retirepujols, I have 2 issues with jumping to platinum:

    1) the obvious shortage of blue cash.  500k will not go very far, and I am VERY prime-heavy...

    2) I can't multi-cycle because of the time-crunch on Monday and Wednesday.  I usually don't finish my 1-and-only cycle until 10:30 or 11 eastern, just due to lack of playing time.

That means I have to acquire resources slowly.  Just not sure how viable the jump is.  If I am going up, I think I need to go into super-saver mode for a few weeks...

@Tdub71 I meant jump off the ledge you were talking about, as in trade those suckers in 😁 if multicycling one of Monday/Wednesday was not an option, I would stay gold as well 👍🏻

I keep all dbl skill players as many as my ina will hold. I’m level 15 all star so it’s quite a few I’ve never actually counted. They recycled a lot of players last year for bonus especially towards the end of the year I suspect they will do the same this year. I only trade in if I absolutely have to and since I’m silver that’s usually never. I also hoard draft picks (over 5k) and open them only if I get below 300k bxp.

@mythicaldragon. 5k drafts picks. I'm sure everyone would love to know how long that takes to open all those. I'm sure the xp is like heaven tho lol

@Tdub71 You know this pain, I'm just commiserating. I under-estimated the value of time when it comes to resource-building. As dumb as that sounds, I really just don't have the time to cycle at the frequency one needs to really build up.

I actually don’t keep anything except for POTW or POTM. Just in case they cycle back through. Easy way to get a lot xp if you had them maxed previously
