Wow, after seemingly pulling nothing but XP from boxes for weeks, I finally had a run of luck. Opened 2 Bazooka and 2 Cubs/Padres boxes and pulled these guys:
Yeah bought 5 on slim chance of landing Devers. Only player in box that interests me but at such low odds I'm not going to chase regardless of double gold. They really need to bump overall max, its been such a long time since I was actually excited about a box they released.

Nice! I couldn’t wait for fan rewards. Pulled him on my 4th. Got him to D1 but I’ll have to wait til Monday to cap him though since I spent my xp stash on keepers. Even bought 10 more boxes for the 3 free FR ones to get some free level ups but no luck.

Heyward looked nice but after comparing him to a few other 350 guys, he doesn't look so good. Very high speed and very low power. The hit rating is actually very good though. Wish I wouldn't have immediately capped him:

Congrats man!!! The pity timer isn't implemented yet. It'll be obvious when it's active.
Guys in my club are uninstalling the game today because they are so fed up with only pulling XP out of boxes. I haven’t pulled a player out of 500 gold weekend box in so long that I can’t even remember the last time.

It's about volume, and patience. Last week, I opened 33 boxes I believe. I paid for 10, got 3 from fan rewards, and the rest from CVC. I got a crappy player twice (the same guy both times), but on the 33rd box, I pulled the 400 Benintendi.
I had some gold stashed and did well in CVC, or otherwise I would never have lucked out. You have to stick with it. There will also be weeks where you pull lots of guys. I had a weekend in early July when I pulled primes and bonus guys on like every other box. It was great. Didn't last, but that's how it goes.
Outside of Devers, I have no interest in the box. If Devers finds his way to me, I'm not certain I'd even level him. Although he's amazing, his skill set isn't a 'need' for me at the moment. As others have mentioned, the bxp guys leave much to be desired.
33 boxes is the equivalent of $150 or so spent on gold. Would you be happy with that return if you’d actually bought all the gold to buy boxes?
Keep in mind that if you don’t get a player, you usually get a good chunk of pxp, which I desperately needed. I think the 5k fan reward was pxp so I spent up to that. Again, not an every week thing for me. Also, about 20 of the boxes were free from CvC or global gifts, so the $150 number is way off in my case.
I just opened the 3 gift boxes (2 Cubs/Padres and 1 summer heat box), and for all three it wouldn't let me click the box to open it. The box just kept bouncing around until it finally opened itself and, not surprisingly, gave me the same reward each time (the one with the highest percentage likelihood). I even tried restarting the app after the second time this happened, but when I opened the last of the 3 boxes, the same thing happened again.
I'm not saying that the reward was somehow screwed up or anything (I got the rewards, they were just the weakest ones available all 3 times), it's just something weird that hasn't happened before. I don't want to bother opening a ticket just because something weird happened, so I'm curious if anyone else experienced this.
