I talked to a family member who is a a psychic at dinner last night. She let me in on the future. Everyone on the forums will bitch about something, threaten to quit...and still hand over their money this weekend

I’d bet dollars to donuts they don’t. Most certainly not in the quantity that Glu wants or needs right now. They didn’t give them anything to spend their money ON....

I'm at All Star Level 18, so I have spent a lot of money this year. I won't even buy the Field Pass this weekend. In my opinion they have ruined CVC, WOH, and Extra Bases. What's the point in spending any more?

Honestly, none of us knows what range of revenue they're pulling in, good or bad. The idea that angry complaints in the forum speak to the entire population of the game is as suspect as saying everything they do produces the desired result.

The idea that I need to somehow be inside GLU to understand that the release of mediocre players and crappy Black Friday deals isn’t going to generate as much revenue as it could/should, is pretty funny
I suggest people don’t spend besides free gold and send in lots of complaints
Not even worth spending free gold on any of it. I was hoping for the mega lxp boxes but even so the fan rewards suck. An obslete 435 player. It doesn't make me want spend my gold. Sorry Glu you shot a blank load. Extremely an impotent game! I don't think Viagra can save you guys!

While I wouldn't call it "funny," the idea that your opinions represent, factually, the financial goals of a company doesn't seem to line up with reality. Again, you can hate it (I'm not banging a drum in support of it either), but without knowing what they're pulling in, especially in comparison to how much they spent to generate everything involved, we have no idea whether this meets what they aimed to make.
To be honest, if this year differs greatly from last year (accounts in here suggests that's the case), it's more reasonable to conclude they didn't make enough to justify the costs last year, so they're spending less and accepting more of a marginal gain rather than focusing on fewer gross dollars generated. Maybe they didn't project much revenue at this point in the year so their developers are working on the 2020 version now.
Lots of other reasons behind this outside of "they're stupid," as much fun as it is to lean on that.
i don’t think their were this many competent diamond players last year, all the big guys were still gold at this point...might of cut into their profit...although I know those guys still spend so I’m clueless to why
Hard to call whether the game is a bust with so many spending time with family this weekend. Seems like much less spending going on, at least in my club and our opponent in the first CvC. Doesn’t help that the boxes suck, specials are not special and VIP rewards and player bumps are going to make players this week obsolete that much quicker.

I had cash in hand, ready to spend on any and all LXP specials that arose.
instead, I got nothing different on the largest commercial spending day of the year than I had on Monday.
as a result....I’d like to thank GLU for my new Ping G410 driver that I bought instead. Fairways and greens boys!

Well...I suppose it’s a fairly generous assumption on my part that they are actually trying to make money. I could be wrong; this could all be out of the goodness of their hearts.
however, if we begin from the presupposition that this is in fact, a business, that is attempting to turn a profit....we would agree that cratering stock prices and 5M losses in a quarter aren’t “good” things right?

i'm waiting on their next earnings release. they will claim some seasonality but i can't imagine meeting revenue growth expectations
Being new to this game and seeing what it is really all about in terms of a money grab, I can promise you they aren't lacking if this is what they are doing to their customers.
I was hard headed and didn't think I would really be priced out of this game within a few months for simply staying silver. You guys warned me all along, which tells me deep down many here know what the core of the game is.
This game really is awesome. For a mobile app, the concept is great, the different game offerings inside are great, and the feeling of opening a baseball card pack when you open a box is really cool.
But, it is still a business. Some businesses are OK with alienating a large potential customer base. This one is and I'm sure there is a reason. If I play 2020, I'll go gold early, but if I hit June or July and it looks like I need to fork over hundreds of bucks to stay competitive at that level, I'll be out. A mobile app just isn't worth that to me, no matter how cool it is. Especially a mobile app that rigs a game for you to lose buy bastardizing the most basic concept of hitting a baseball.
Yes, we are aware of the game having crashing issues in the middle of WoH, but we can't compensate you for the gold you lost at this time. This is done on a case by case basis. - TSB Customer Service

For me it all smacks of desperation, 4 more weeks to bring up 4th quarter numbers, damning the costs...........like Cooz alluded to (and I agree with), if last year, as much as us gamers liked/appreciated their approach with the bxp black friday players and WOH boxes full of desirable players, if last year was a success from their perspective then they would have followed the same model. Whether their current course is experimentation or a pre determined plan rooted in analytics, bottom line is that the current course of action is not accidental or "just stupid".
It is just simply profit-based. As long as the whales who spend thousands of dollars keep spending, everyone else's opinions don't matter. The people like me who spent $1 in April to get rid of ads and then nothing else the rest of the year don't help their bottom line. Simple as that.

I'm a "whale" .... And my opinion and concerns are equally not cared about to bring any type of change. The only difference between you and I ... Is that my opinion/concerns are copy paste responded to a few hours quicker than yours are.
I just bought a Nintendo Switch Lite and Resident Evil instead of wasting money on here this weekend 🙌🏼 Solid trade off besides almost crapping my pants every time I hear a noise or hit a dark corner in the game 😂 But with all the complaints and money wasted on here.... Crapping Pants > Giving Glu $$

If anyone at GLU has a brain, people should be fired over this. They literally just burned money today.
