Keeper transition question

Just curious if how you level your keeper in 19 translates to 20?  In other words do I need to make sure his skills are 20/20 to get the best possible?   Or does it matter?

    It's the same as any player just 5 times more BXP,PXP,LXP and Gold. They also start out with a rating somewhere around 50% of their value and increase by small percentages as the year goes on. I think it was January before they reached 100 % of their value.
