It appears to me, at least, that it's blind luck. I've had trades go through on the first try (usually the non-prime players), and this past weekend Prime Pujols cost me over 3k in gold to finally go through.

Same here. They easily owe me 10k in gold, and after waiting weeks for a response to my numerous complaints, I got the same boilerplate copypasta response that I had to be a "new user." Its a complete scam.

I'm glad I didn't see this thread until after I traded for Machado, because I never would've attempted it. I ended up getting him on my second try somehow, amazingly. Maybe Glu took pity on me after I spent over 30k on Bagwell and still ended up missing out on him by 300 gold trophies.
