Pitching skills- do they matter

In another thread I saw several posts of the opinion that pitching skills don’t work or don’t matter. First time I saw this so could someone tell me why this is?

For team strength?  yes

For everything else?  no

At least thats my opinion which im 95% sure about

That is the general consensus.  It is very difficult to prove either way, but no one I know seems to believe in them as anything more than TS-boosters.
