How to get franchise player into Bonus games?

I bought Josh Bell as a franchise player today. How do I get him in my lineup for the Bonus games?

    You need to have a lower ranked player at first baseball for him to temporarily replace

    Should the franchise player show up in my lineup? 
    I put a much weaker 1b in and played 3 games. Bell wasn’t in my lineup. 
    Then I played a Season game to see if he’d show up there. He still didn’t.

    Bell should replace Aguilar automatically?

    I think I figured it out. I set the lineup strategy to current instead of potential. That finally got Bell in the lineup!
