Promoted against my will

I deliberately left two bonus games unplayed so as to remain in Silver tier.
The today I got promoted to gold anyway. Anyone know how this might happen? (Customer Support was... not helpful)

    That’s the pits.  I didn’t like the autopromote feature this season.

    Neither did I. I finally went diamond this month after being silver most of the season. The best part about the forced promotion is that I barely tapped for most of the season. So that gave me a lot of free time to do other things
