Has the Festerville event started?

Got the Android update over the weekend, but I haven't seen any pop-ups to join the event yet. Has this event started?

I tried to change my avatar, now I can't even see my face. Kids, don't change your avatar

I got the update as well, We now can level to 27 but no event yet. maybe they are working out the bugs before we get to play it?

I don't get auto updates, has anyone with a kindle gotten to update their game?!?!
