'gamer ID' - Non recognition of google play username/ID

everytime I start the game thus far it prompts me to create a 'gamer ID' but I am hesitant to do this for fear of risking the loss of everything I've built in KKH.

Is anyone else having this issue?

It doesn't change anything ^^ it's just a new rule of Google as they want to seperate from Google+ so now you need to create a gamer ID to continue playing via Play Games.
