Drone Upgrade - totally confused on Fused

During mission wins, I must have at least 50 of these modules -
So not sure what the numbers mean 0/84. - if 84 is the number of them acquired?

So I select up to 4, default value allowed.
The next screen comes up with 800 health value, but showing to use diamonds to purchase,

Maybe it has something to do with Tier level..
My base is not complete at Tier 2 - at 276.

You would have to use either diamonds or gold to fuse either old drones, old drone parts and/or xp modules to fuse them to the your support drone.

Once you have selected the 4 parts that you want to use for upgrade, click "FUSE". This will bring you to the previous page. On that page it shows you the 4 parts that you have selected. Underneath that you will see a couple of options - either "DIAMONDS" or "GOLD". Just select the one you want to use.

These modules were given wining the mission event.
You always got 1 for each win.
So what did I really win?

Who knows what any of these parts does, but they all have the same effect: If you buy them, they increase the total of XP points that allow you to complete a level with, in turn, increases Drone power. The value of the upgrades is directly correlated to the XP value. Tier 9 awards have values of XP values of 19 and 23, depending on which ones you own, but they have the same cost per XP point as any of the other upgrades. In short, there is no value, that I can see, to using one upgrade over another.

The whole Drone project is confused and misguided in its current form, and the Drones appear to be very little help and sometimes are a hindrance. I am avoiding Drone upgrades until the smoke clears.

In addition, Drone upgrades at higher level becomes incredibly expensive. I am at 6700 power on the IOS platform and am at level 63 and each XP point costs 1200 Diamonds and it takes 150 points to advance a level. This means that it takes 180,000 Diamonds to advance to level 64, which will only move my Drone power to 6900. The next level upgrade will be even more expensive.

Sadly, no one seems to know how the system works and it is very unclear how high Drone power will need to be before they become useful. Below 8000 they are useless, that much is certain.

Yes, so bazaar.
First they give modules.
Then when you decide to use it, you're forced to buy it
