I'm on Google Android. RANK #30 is usually between 20,000-30,000 depending on the level of competition. RANK #1 is usually north of 40,000-50,000. I think IOS is similar. Actually there is almost a direct correlation between GLOBAL AP totals and the ALL TIME LEADERSBOARD VP totals. Almost identical ... LOL
I normally figure that is requires 10000 to get the top 30 on IOS, 32000 to make the top 10, but that figure is going up. This week the top 30 will probably be over 12000.
One of the things that is remarkable about current Global competion on both IOS and Android is the number of players that qualify for Gold League at 8500 but are outside the top 30. They are all hosed, since they don't win a weapon only parts and they play in the Gold League, which plays for a different weapon, so the can't complete the Global gun. And the Gold League competition is brutal, you can't win there. I have tried and have gotten 48 parts twice, never crafted a weapon.
My current strategy on IOS is to play for the highest position possible, but never exceed 8500 AP. Last week that strategy gave me 86th place for 35 parts and completed in Silver the next day. This week 8500 may not put one in the top 100. What are people thinking? It's only an assault weapon you will never be able to use in PVP.
Absolutely ... after careful analysis of the Global PvP Events, I concluded several things:
(1) To make TOP 90 requires at least 1,000 BARS of GOLD
(2) To make TOP 50 requires another 1,000 BARS of GOLD ... this is where AP total usually gets you into GOLD league.
(3) To make TOP 30 requires at least 2,000 BARS of GOLD
That's a cumulative total. So 2,000 BARS of GOLD to make GOLD league and 4,000 BARS of GOLD for TOP 30 ... minimum. Most of this will be spent on DAY #4, usually the final 12 hours of competition.
What the cost is to WIN the top weapon outright (TOP 10, for example) is anyone's guess, I know it's out of my "league".
On another note ... If you find it difficult to make SILVER LEAGUE, that's a clear indication that you're NOT ready for PvP since it only requires 1 WIN per HOUR during the Global PvP to make the SILVER LEAGUE.
I have finished in the Top 10 on IOS several times and have finished as high as 3rd. Each top 10 finish required 3 $100 purchases of 3200 Gold, though I typically had about half of the last purchase left. I believe that the cost of a top 10 gun on IOS is $250.00 real money. That's why I am not doing it any more.
You can't get top 30 using free energy, but $50 buy in for 1325 Gold might be enough.
BTW I am in 8th place on Amazon, no money spent so far.
That's for sure but I would also add that you cannot make the GOLD league either using only free energy. At least 1,500-2,000 of your AP would need to come from GOLD. Now most of these statistics are based on the assumption that you're NOT loosing, so if a 100 victory win streak (certainly a couple of 50s) seem like an insurmountable obstacle, again you're not ready for PvP.
For the cost conscious among us, once your reach the TOP 90 to advance any further requires roughly 1 GOLD BAR for every AP to advance to GOLD League. TOP 30 easily doubles that expense.
The most AP that I have been able to do without using Gold is in the 4800 range, good for a finish in the 200 to 250 range, give up sleep and any thing resembling a life and you could push it to 6000, which should be top 100 at best.
You know what's really funny? I also dabble in gambling, not as much as I once did, but I still like to make a wager every now and then. To compete in PvP with a reasonable expectation of winning requires a 100 to 1 WIN - LOSS ratio. As a gambler, I would take those odds ANYTIME, ANYDAY ...
... YET we still complain. One might say that we're "spoiled brats" LMAO
Maybe we should look at this as one would approach a Jersey Shore Casino ... HELL life is a gamble ...
There is no such thing as a SURE thing *** SMILES *** A successful gambler MUST learn to move on to the next BET (rational risk assessment) after LOSING ... it's gone, get over it.
Closing in on 1.5 DAYS remaining in GLOBAL and RANK #30 has 8,808 AP (2,283 AP gets me ranked #355), therefore all of the TOP 30 are in the GOLD League, RIGHT NOW and have spent more TIME and GOLD than I would have over the entire duration.
This is what you're up against when considering GOLD League or a TOP 30 finish.
I would also add that this is when I decide to start spending GOLD in order to WIN 35 weapons parts. Since it's an ASSAULT weapon, I'm satisfied with 10-15 (maybe 20) parts and will take my chances with League Play. Barring a "lost" day of competition, I'll win the weapon ... a calculated risk, if you will.
Free playing the Global for parts and then completing in Silver is the smart play and should cost little or nothing. (My expense for Medkits has jumped recently.) I wish I had discovered this strategy earlier.
Well it's a benefit of ALWAYS playing catch up !!! Everything there IS to see lies in front of you.

My mentor taught me that being right is only part of being successful at gambling ... money management is the ticket. Hardcore gamblers, and I've met a few, will tell you that gambling is a microcosm of life, in general. I don't agree totally, but they did have a point.
I refer to this TOP 50 bottleneck as the GREAT WALL. To break through to reach the "illusive" TOP 30 takes as much GOLD as one would have spent to get that far. If you fail to beach the wall, you land in GOLD League with NO PARTS. For me, it simply isn't worth the EFFORT or GOLD.
I WILL breach that wall one day when we get a game that isn't so buggy. LOL
While we're on the subject, why put in that kind of effort to make the TOP 30? It's my understanding that GOLD League weapons are better than those offered during the Global PvP, so it would seem a better "investment" to make the GOLD League and spend most of your GOLD there, no? Is there an aspect I've overlooked?
Along the same lines, I think TOP 30 Prizes should reflect the effort expended to achieve that stature. Forget the weapon ... Top Prize should be something like 5,000 or 10,000 GOLD !!!
Then we'll see some REAL competition man ...
RANK #30: 9,500+ AP
RANK #1: 25,000+ AP
I will NEVER understand why the leader plays the way he does, but then again I'm looking at it through my eyes, which ARE narrowly focused. LOL
Clearly weapons mean NOTHING to him since he already has 11.5s all around.
He has qualified for the GOLD League three times over.
He's recording victories at the rate of 10/hour and has been doing so from the start.
My calculations suggest he has spent over 6,500 BARS of GOLD and we're not even close to being finished. I estimate that he will spend 10,000 BARS before it's all over.
The only other reason that is left must be the VIP prize.
Does anyone know what the top VIP prize is and shed some light on this for me?

BTW ... I know what some of you are thinking? Who cares how he got it ... I'm trying to understand the WHY not the HOW.
Here's a TIP: CLUE: The ENERGY countdown timer is running independently of the PvP Game Clock. Check it out ... KUDOS to the first that can explain the implication ... Wish I could offer GOLD but if you can figure this one out I've given you something more valuable !!!

He's doing it to prevent another player from getting a weapon. Some people are dicks, they have fun blocking other players from getting items.
Seems like an awful lot of effort to stop someone from getting a weapon. Besides I really don't think these guys are playing for weapons. I haven't ruled out insanity yet. LOL
I did a quick check and all the TOP 30 already have 11.5 and 12.0 rated weapons. One thing did stand out though, they all have max'd out TIER 11s with 9,500 DRONES. What are the chances that all 30 of them would have the same exact drone?
I have a 9,500 drone as well, maybe their threshold for BS is the same as mine LMAO

Well Bud at least you've got the patience to get your drone up to speed so it can register kills, which reminds me ...
You mentioned that you seem to be using more MedKits than usual. Do you think upgrading your drone has anything to do with that?
The increased Medkits is due to the toughness of the 92 K short Defenses. Even with a new Heavy fully upgraded, I am using a Medkit about 60% of the time. Any slight misstep and I am hitting the button. It is worse during Global, because it is so painful to have to start over on a streak. I am hitting the button any time I am close to trouble. A Clan member who won the Garuda Elite which he has upgraded to an astonishing 353 K says he is still using Medkits frequently.
Probably the win streak has something to do with that (battles getting harder as you go) ... maybe a strategic "loss" is in order?
