I am a huge fan of Stephen Jay Gould. The only problem is which of his many books to recommend as an introduction to his writings. The Panda's Thumb is as good a starting place as any. My favorite is Wonderful Life: The Burgess Shale and the Nature of History. There is also a great compilation: The Richness of Life, the Essential Stephen Jay Gould.

The Drone is at long last a real fighting weapon. The Machine can kill enemies all on its own now. It beats me to the bad guy every once in a while. My favorite is the Healing Ray, at 1.3M it is the equivalent of 1/2 Medpack, and it recharges for a second dose pretty quick. My Medkit count is actually rising now since I get a free on every day, and I never use them.
Sadly, with no parts, the upgrades is slowing down, but the Drone is just fine as is.

I've noticed a setting labeled "BLOCKED PLAYERS" which is not populated yet. Do you have any idea what the function of this is? I'm thinking it's a future feature that would allow GLU to banish the players that use profanity or are verbal abusive or even suspected cheaters since I cannot imagine allowing players to "block" other players from playing the game.
I can't wait to get "strapped" and see how far LITTLE ME can go. I'll need some motivation to start the march to 510K and beyond.

Blocked players allows you to block the comments of players in Clan chat whose comments you find offensive. Note the "Mute" button on the Global chat menu to the far right of the players name.

Ahhh Ok that makes sense, so it's not a global setting ... just something a player can choose to use if they're being bombarded with language that makes them feel uncomfortable. Got it.

Trick question and depends upon your beliefs system, but again, and I shall put this as gently as I can, ALL mammalian life was spawned from an egg; this includes the "great apes".
Mammals began to "incubate" their eggs internally roughly 100 million years ago. Even today the platypus (a mammal) continues to lay eggs and resides on the same "branch" of the tree of life as all mammals.
So again, if one subscribes to evolution and since evolution tells us that all life that exists today evolved from ancient creatures that once inhabited the oceans, namely fish, well you get the idea ...
It's only a theory that has yet to be proven but it makes as much sense as ETs visiting our planet millennia ago and planting their human "seed"; and then there's the "cosmic" egg fertilized by God roughly 14 billion years ago that gave rise to the Big Bang, but these are all theories.

Uh oh ... after a level 1 upgrade, all of the smaller parts went dark and cannot be selected. Does that mean I cannot use my remaining 64K parts for upgrades? Another GLU curveball perhaps?

Yes, the price has dropped radically, since I upgraded the Drone (the story of my life). My belief is that Glu figured out that nobody in their right mind would pay the prices I paid to upgrade the Drone, so they cut it back.
The bad news: they are radically increasing the costs of Drone weapons upgrades. More on that when you are ready.

This connection related issue started @ 10:00 AM on Thursday 10/15/15 and continues with today's League Event. To make matters worse, following my very first battle I was greeted with the "SYNCHRONIZATION ERROR / RESTART" immediately followed by the "INTERNET CONNECTION ERROR and RETRY ERROR CODE: 203003" so it would appear that the connection cannot last long enough to issue a game restart on our devices.
This is affecting about 50,000 registered players, 1,000 of whom are regular paying customers.

I would like to compete with you guys but i'm on another server of cks. In this server, to be on the top 30 during the machine gun price, it about 6000AP. for the sniper/tesla. i need to get about 9000AP. not so bad, huh?!
Not bad at all to land in the TOP 30 for a weapon. We have an alternative strategy that is much more efficient if you typically spend about $40-$50 per week on this game. If you'll notice, I rarely spend GOLD on battles and rarely compete past the 50 GOLD free milestone at 4,000 AP ... there is a good reason for that.
We once competed for weapons and parts of weapons during the Global but that all came to and end on 07/30 and the premise behind it is still valid today. We now compete for things like diamonds, All-Time Leader positions, drone weapons parts ... but NEVER GUNS !!! The days of staying up 'till the early morning hours are over forever.
If you're interested, there are numerous posts on upgrades, money management, diamonds vs gold, how to stay ahead of the game, etc.

I am still looking to retire the BLACK HOLE which was acquired on 08/23; it's still a very reliable weapon. I may need to switch over to the MANTA if I can't secure a better TESLA weapon before the next REGION and DEFENSE TIER are released.
I really don't want to waste diamonds upgrading a weapon that may last only a month. Next TIER I could start passing on LONG battles; imagine that passing on LONGS to get to the SHORTS.
Ever since the CKS 3.1.1 build was released (3 weeks back) I've been sitting on several thousand gold patiently waiting for something positive to occur; anything positive actually. I achieved 410K power on the drone, but I am stuck in the mud and must now secure more fuses to continue any meaningful drone development.
I spent some of it by upgrading the 17.5 KARMA to the next level. This was done to solve a troublesome "overheating" problem with this weapon; I am pleased with the results and managed to grab some high-XP drone fuses along the way.
The boycott continues.

No need to buy-in. first it's too early for me last one was 09/25 ... but I can guess based on what's featured in VIP ... most likely another 17.5 weapon; probably a KARMA clone.
The clones won't stop until the next tier is released.
Android is getting better, not perfect but I've received two responses from HANDLES ... the usual the developers have been informed and an indirect request from those affected to supply their particulars. Also received another message from Customer Care stating that the developers have been informed and are aware of the issue.
But like I said before, it's more of an annoyance than anything else. If I needed the battles for say parts, I'd be screwed.
At least they've acknowledged that there is a problem

There is one aspect that has thrown the way I play a curve ... playing enough battles to grab the milestone gold isn't a problem, but the amount of time to fight the battles is longer due to the constant need to RETRY the connection after it drops.
For example, I typically play the 3 free energy battles on average 5-10 minutes when on cruise control. That gives me 50-55 between the free battles for what ever; that's down to only 5-10 minutes between energy refills, so there's really no breaks.
I'm playing a little more that the usual 8-9 hours each day (closer to 12) to make up the difference, but it's constant and that can be tiring. The strange part about the Global is that you can rank higher vs the Lunatic Asylum because the scoring is way down. That aspect might benefit others playing for parts.
Fortunately I'm only looking for 40-50 victories per day and I do manage 6-12 non-free battles when the game permits.
Because it mostly affects those raving mad men, I did entertain the possibility that this was all staged.

These issues extend much further than 5 days; three weeks ago the Global was cancelled after only 12 hours, two weeks ago it was 12 hours late in starting and last week the connection issues started. I've never had multi-win streaks interrupted, as a matter of fact I only lost a single battle in the latest Global; streaks are meaningless anyways.
All platforms are suffering problems of some sort and have their root in the CKS 3.1.1 release, but this problem is different; it's not game related but rather an infrastructure issue and those can be rather difficult to isolate at times.
It could be anything from a bad network interface card (NIC) on a server to a corrupted routing table on a router to a frayed patch cable. I have no doubt that the GLU data center is huge so when you add the incompetence factor, you've got a major problem. The ONLY way to remedy a problem of this nature is to follow the "packet" and determine where it's being dropped.
Ironically, out of the 50,000 registered players, only the TOP 100 are really being affected, namely the GOLD LEAGUERS aka the "Lunatic Asylum" ... that's like 0.2%. Scoring is down 50-60% amongst the leaders and I would presume revenues are down as well if you subscribe to the notion that they are ... uh-hum ... paying for battles with GOLD purchased in the store.
If you're playing for free, then you'll be annoyed and tired of pressing that d.a.m.n. retry button at times and you can't afford the luxury of passing up battles because of the slower pace.
Another strange manifestation is I haven't seen any content update restarts and only one resync restart ... restarts are way down; of course there's no need to restart if you can't connect ... it's just another way to describe the same problem ... LMAO
Man what I would give to get my hands on their data center ....
BTW I've hit RANK #195 on the All-Timers List with 20,928 VP ... considering the company I keep, that's an achievement in itself.

I also want to apologize when I stated that this latest GLU misstep is only really affecting the Lunatic Asylum. That's not entirely true; players who earn a living accumulating weapons parts and win battles by bypassing stronger opponents to find weaker opponents, are most likely unable to play the game at all or at best, at a snail's pace which would drive me away that's for sure.

No more drone development, game progressing at TORTOISE speeds and no hope for acquiring enough fuses to reach 510K in my lifetime ... what would you do my friend?
In the very least, I can wait for TIER 16, I can acquire and upgrade a better TESLA; either way that's weeks down the road ... then what? The end is closer than I had anticipated.

Some, but not all, campaigns have offered XP modules as bonuses on all the Missions. IF the new campaign does that, you will have an instant solution. In the meantime, play the open missions on the Posh Killers and Modern Slavers campaign. Lots of XP modules there every 60 minutes. Funny, you and I have variations of the same problem: You have no XP modules, and I have no Drone weapons parts.

My setup at the end of the Global is the same as the outset except:
Drone Weapons: MG & HR, 1.4M; SG & RL 1.3M
Sniper: Cheetah, 16.5, 5.44 M, 65% upgraded, only because it is the only upgrade available.

I am still looking to retire the BLACK HOLE which was acquired on 08/23; it's still a very reliable weapon. I may need to switch over to the MANTA if I can't secure a better TESLA weapon before the next REGION and DEFENSE TIER are released.
I really don't want to waste diamonds upgrading a weapon that may last only a month. Next TIER I could start passing on LONG battles; imagine that passing on LONGS to get to the SHORTS.
Ever since the CKS 3.1.1 build was released (3 weeks back) I've been sitting on several thousand gold patiently waiting for something positive to occur; anything positive actually. I achieved 410K power on the drone, but I am stuck in the mud and must now secure more fuses to continue any meaningful drone development.
I spent some of it by upgrading the 17.5 KARMA to the next level. This was done to solve a troublesome "overheating" problem with this weapon; I am pleased with the results and managed to grab some high-XP drone fuses along the way.
The boycott continues.

No need to buy-in. first it's too early for me last one was 09/25 ... but I can guess based on what's featured in VIP ... most likely another 17.5 weapon; probably a KARMA clone.
The clones won't stop until the next tier is released.
Android is getting better, not perfect but I've received two responses from HANDLES ... the usual the developers have been informed and an indirect request from those affected to supply their particulars. Also received another message from Customer Care stating that the developers have been informed and are aware of the issue.
But like I said before, it's more of an annoyance than anything else. If I needed the battles for say parts, I'd be screwed.

For example, I typically play the 3 free energy battles on average 5-10 minutes when on cruise control. That gives me 50-55 between the free battles for what ever; that's down to only 5-10 minutes between energy refills, so there's really no breaks.
I'm playing a little more that the usual 8-9 hours each day (closer to 12) to make up the difference, but it's constant and that can be tiring. The strange part about the Global is that you can rank higher vs the Lunatic Asylum because the scoring is way down. That aspect might benefit others playing for parts.
Fortunately I'm only looking for 40-50 victories per day and I do manage 6-12 non-free battles when the game permits.
Because it mostly affects those raving mad men, I did entertain the possibility that this was all staged.

So what's keeping you busy these days?
My biggest concern is that it could be a GLU internal network problem and the fact that they haven't isolated it yet could mean it's a nasty sort of bugger.
I assume that this is affecting all Android platform players and the problem is now in day 5 or 6. Since Android is Glu's biggest market, the fact that it is the delay probably is a very bad sign.
Complaints on the fourm have died down, so maybe other Androidians either don't have the problem or have given up on the game.
The IOS platform is working well, at least for me. The last Global I only had one streak ending restart, which is my best in months. Video is good, if not perfect. Game is running with an occassional restart/resynch. In fairness, I should report that other IOS gamers are still reportig problems.
As I mentioned the Google Play platform issue is affecting at least 50,000 players, 1,000 of whom are regular paying customers. These issues extend much further than 5 days; three weeks ago the Global was cancelled after only 12 hours, two weeks ago it was 12 hours late in starting and last week the connection issues started. I've never had multi-win streaks interrupted, as a matter of fact I only lost a single battle in the latest Global; streaks are meaningless anyways.
All platforms are suffering problems of some sort and have their root in the CKS 3.1.1 release, but this problem is different; it's not game related but rather an infrastructure issue and those can be rather difficult to isolate at times.
It could be anything from a bad network interface card (NIC) on a server to a corrupted routing table on a router to a frayed patch cable. I have no doubt that the GLU data center is huge so when you add the incompetence factor, you've got a major problem. The ONLY way to remedy a problem of this nature is to follow the "packet" and determine where it's being dropped.
Ironically, out of the 50,000 registered players, only the TOP 100 are really being affected, namely the GOLD LEAGUERS aka the "Lunatic Asylum" ... that's like 0.2%. Scoring is down 50-60% amongst the leaders and I would presume revenues are down as well if you subscribe to the notion that they are ... uh-hum ... paying for battles with GOLD purchased in the store.
If you're playing for free, then you'll be annoyed and tired of pressing that d.a.m.n. retry button at times and you can't afford the luxury of passing up battles because of the slower pace.
Another strange manifestation is I haven't seen any content update restarts and only one resync restart ... restarts are way down; of course there's no need to restart if you can't connect ... it's just another way to describe the same problem ... LMAO
Man what I would give to get my hands on their data center ....
BTW I've hit RANK #195 on the All-Timers List with 20,928 VP ... considering the company I keep, that's an achievement in itself.

No more drone development, game progressing at TORTOISE speeds and no hope for acquiring enough fuses to reach 510K in my lifetime ... what would you do my friend?
In the very least, I can wait for TIER 16, I can acquire and upgrade a better TESLA; either way that's weeks down the road ... then what? The end is closer than I had anticipated.

Some, but not all, campaigns have offered XP modules as bonuses on all the Missions. IF the new campaign does that, you will have an instant solution. In the meantime, play the open missions on the Posh Killers and Modern Slavers campaign. Lots of XP modules there every 60 minutes. Funny, you and I have variations of the same problem: You have no XP modules, and I have no Drone weapons parts.
