Is the pistol series temporary?

Yes it is but pistols can be used in contract hunts after pistol alpine event finishes think a new assault rifle event due for region 8 anytime now

I find the pistols useless, unless it is a requirement, like an event were you win a shot gun or assault rifle.

Pistols do have their limits,I still find it challenging to use them in the different hunts---shooting the same animals with same weapons several hundred times gets boring to me.i have used pistols on just about every animal in the game,sure some do require multiple hits,duck and geese make for a fun/challenging hunt with a pistol
