Trying to upload profile pic

I'm using a mobile device, iPhone 5S, and I use photobucket to post pics, but can't seem to get a profile pic to work. I managed an avatar pic, but wanted a pic to appear when posting, but I keep getting a msg that my pic chosen is invalid or too big. I'd think that I could use the same pic, but it isn't working. Any advice?
