I've been trying to rack up the brain shots to fill the bounty but have noticed that if you're aiming in thermal for the brain and shoot through the eye it doesn't count as a brain hit. Why?

I hate that, but it is what it is. It's happened to me several times and you waste a perfectly good brain shot. There have be requests for an eye shot bounty for that very reason, as we as it is the most difficult shot to make.

I have a couple of times, never on purpose though when I try to aim for the brain I seem to either hit some other body part that's in the way but invisible in thermal or the animal turns its head at the last minute just before I fire. Same with heart and lung shots every so often I'll just be taking a "must kill this' shot and actually hit them. Sadly at higher levels they just aren't worth the effort if you aren't going for a bounty as its only 5/10 dollars with a prize pool of 13k if they were like the trophy hunts where a heart shot is worth 3k it'd be different.
