New phone progress lost

So as the title says, I got a new phone restored it from a backup and my progress on deer hunter 14 has disappeared. Can anything be done to restore this

For Android, there is a sticky in the DH2014 general discussion forum that describes a process that was successful.
For iOS, few have been successful, but one poster in the forum has said that by calling Apple, they were able to walk them through a process that worked.
