How are you supposed to get bows/crossbows before you unlock hidden regions?

How can I complete the bow and crossbow series to get the map pieces without having the platinum eagles to get them in the first place? Do I have to do daily, rare, and elite hunts until I save enough up? Are they a reward for any of the elite hunts? Or maybe they come from a trophy series?
