level vs gs ?

I presently have a level 44 unbreakable ring of the boar but just obtained a level 49 wonderous ring of the boar. Which is better? Unbreakable has the higher gs. Does level have any bearing on a items strength?

gold level 44 will be better to keep as purple lvl49 will not have higher stats then that one.

only gold lvl49 will have higher stats than it. purple lvl49 better then purple lvl44 but not gold.

Level is more like cap - you cant wear it until you reach that level. ofcourse higher level will bring hihger gear score but in same color category mostly.
