Hi Jaybizz, the cause of this has been fixed for the next update which will be out soon, but you should still be able to recover your gold by following these steps:
-Launch the game
-Tap on the gold at the top of the screen to open the purchasing options
-Tap "Buy" on any of the options
-Type in your password if necessary
-Select CANCEL when prompted to confirm your in-app purchase
