checking for updates

My husband and my daughter both have deer Hunter 2014 on their kindle fires. My daughter just downloaded the game today, and my husband has had it for a couple of weeks now. Both of them when you open the app it says it's checking for updates and not going to the game. Why is this and what can I do to fix it for them?

    I've been playing for over a yr and this only started happening 2 days ago. I have a fire also and have no other problems with the web or other games. Just another bug in the long list of problems with this game and glu.
