My whole game is lost?

Decided to play again after not playing in like 3 years. When I tried to connect Game Center, it said there was no game tied to that account. I figured that it just deleted since it’s been so long, so I started a new game. When I got in my game, my OLD avatar was in my contacts! What’s up with that? Did this happen to anyone else?
