Unable to hire friends for gigs, contact list displays as empty

Can anyone help me, I've networked in the game and have models, actors, promotors, etc in my contact list. However, when I am doing a gig and press the blue icon, even when I click on all friends my contacts are always blank. Does anyone know how to fix this?
