Help!! How do I add friends of mine as "friends" on the game?

I cannot figure out how to add friends of mine who are already playing the game. I'm signed into FB and Google but all I'm able to do is send requests to people who are not playing already. I've even tried sending a request to someone who is already playing to see if that would give us an option to link as contacts. Help!!

It does take awhile for friends to show up on Android facebook They should start showing in a few days or if they send you a gift if they can
