Non friends can not gift you, right?

This is the second time I've gotten a gift and the would you like to gift back pop up didn't show up so I manually go through friends to gift back and the name isn't on my friends list. ??

If you get a gift, it should tell you who sent it. If it's a random name that's not in your contacts, it could be because that person has an issue with connection. I've had so many people tell me I sometimes disappear from their contacts or my name is different. Or that I gifted them but it says a different name. Unless you know the person you recently asked to gift you in one of these threads, I don't think you'll know who did gift you.
