Bought the apartment....and now being charged rent??

Sorry for the newbie question.....

Just started the game and one of my "to do" items was buy the apartment. So I did. I returned to it today and the landlord was there saying I owed him rent. WHAT!? I paid $2000 and now he wants $750. What happened????

Oh, you bought the apartment in Hollywood for 2000$. THe landloard (ugh he looks icky) is for the small apartment Downtown. Now, if you don't pay him, every time to go to pop glam or so chic, he will be there pestering you. Eventually, you should buy it, and 'adopt'/buy the kitten. After you do, the kitten appears in the Downtown apartment, and gives you energy every 4 hours if you tap him. Oh, and once you pay the 750, he disappears and you never have to pay it again.
