He plays using the Facebook platform, and after an update today the game gives him black screen. Any suggestions?

Other than switching browsers, and any suggestions found on the FAQ pages, you should tell your friend to join and post themselves. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

First 2 things to suggest to a Facebook player, change browsers and/or clear cache. You would be surprised how many times that fixes it for them. But you should convince your friend to join. We can always use more Facebook players here.
