Saving game progress?

I'm about to switch devices, but my saved game is not the latest one. I'm wondering how do we save our games? Or how can we trigger the auto-save thingy? Thank you in advance!

I think the way to save your game (by transferring devices) is to log into facebook and then log into Facebook on the new device. At least that’s how I think it works. Cause each device is different when it comes to signing in with “Apple” or “Game Center” you know? So facebook is best option for switching devices and saving the game.
I am on IOS so that’s why I use those examples.
Sometimes if it’s not the latest game save I wait just a few days to make sure it has got my most recent save, but I’ve never done many device switching so I don’t know how it would work.
