Any way to improve unresponsive controls (windows phone 8 nokia 620)

Hi

I have been playing that, and it is potentially a cracking game, however the controls are incredibly unresponsive.

This may be a hardware issue although my phone, whilst not top end is fairly ok (dual core nokia 620 running windows 8)

has anyone else seen this issue and is there a fix?
