Question about account

So I've played around 1,000 games and built up a pretty darn good team as well as spending real life money to achieve this. Yesterday, my i-pad bricked while trying to update the iOS. I went over to my i-phone, downloaded the game from the cloud with the same account I use on my i-pad and, nothing, no roster, no gold, no record, zilch. How is our account stored? It's obviously not through game center or anything linked to our game center or itunes account, so is there any way to get this account back from anyone's knowledge. By the way, I'm posting here because Glu has never ONCE responded to an e-mail I've sent them. Any advice anyone has would be appreciated, I'd hate to lose all the time put in.
