Player ratings increases

I've noticed that some of my players' attributes get bumped when I promote to the next league. For instance I have Anthony Rizzo, who has been a five star player (6/9/4) since my team went Pro (I'm now All Star), but I know he wasn't that good when I was Rookie/Semi-Pro. Same for Kyle Seager: He's at 4 1/2 stars (6/8/5), but no way was he that good as late as Semi-Pro.

I've been searching, but haven't found any information on how many players will normally improve after winning a playoff series. What kind of progression have others seen? Or am I hallucinating...

It's because player's stats were updated in October. YOu probably haven't chhecked since Oct.
