B/R 500 has ranked top players for each position in Sept 2014. I think it may be interesting to compare their list with the stats in this game. Note that B/R took defense into consideration.

1B
Paul Goldschmidt (8/8/5)
Jose Abreu (9/9/2)
Anthony Rizzo (6/9/4)

Note: Miguel Cabrera (9/7/2) is ranked at #4. Two other 5* 1B: Justin Morneau (L, 9/5/2, #12), and Steve Pearce (7/8/4) is an OF.

2B
Robinson Cano (L, 9/4/5)
Ben Zobrist (B, 6/3/5, 3*)
Jose Altuve (9/2/9)

Note: Brian Dozier (#4, 4/8/8); Scooter Gennett (#12, L, 9/4/5)

SS
Troy Tulowitzki (9/9/2)
Jhonny Peralta (6/7/3, 4*)
Andrelton Simmons (4/3/4, 2.5*) W-T-F...

Note: Hanley Ramirez (#6, 8/7/7); Ian Desmond (#8, 5/8/9), and one of the best hitters in this game, Danny Santana (B, 9/3/9) is mostly an OF in real life.

3B
Josh Donaldson (5/9/4, 4.5*)
Anthony Rendon (don't know his stats)
Josh Harrison (9/5/8, OF in game)

Note: None of the 5* 3B in the game made top 5 in the B/R list. Adrian Beltre (9/6/2) is #7; Aramis Ramirez 8/6/2 is at #20, and Todd Frazier (7/8/8) is at #6.

C:
Jonathan Lucroy (8/4/4, 4.5*)
Buster Posey (9/6/1)
Russell Martin (6/6/5, 4*)

Note: Yadier Molina (8/4/2) is #4. Surprised to see Lucroy outranked Posey.

Corner OF:
Giancarlo Stanton (7/9/5)
Jose Bautista (7/9/4)
Michael Brantley (L, 9/5/7)

CF (this list is from 2013, no 2014 list is available)
Mike Trout (8/9/6)
Andrew McCutchen (9/7/6)
Carlos Gomez (7/7/9)

DH:
Victor Martinez (B, 9/8/2)
Nelson Cruz (6/9/4)
David Ortiz (6/9/1, 4.5*)

Note: this is pretty much the same as this game.

SP:
Clayton Kershaw (9/9/9)
Felix Hernandez (7/9/9)
Corey Kluber (8/8/8)

RP:
Sean Doolittle (L, 8/9/9)
Wade Davis (unknown)
Dellin Betances (9/6/9)
Note: Koji Uehara (9/9/9, #13), Mark Melancon (7/9/9, #12)
