Not enough reward for moving through tiers

I genuinely enjoy playing the game, so I try to manually play as much as possible while remaining competitive. However, best I can tell most of the top players and clubs have infinite resources to autoplay and put up high scores. I thought, similar to tsb17, moving from silver all the way to platinum would allow me to remain more competitive. This year playing with every new player being bronze it's much harder (expensive) to get to where I think I should be.

I'm hoping to think tank and recommend some suggestions to make TSB 18 more fun for everyone. Other than going back to last years version of drafted players beginning at your current tier, what ideas does the community have?
