No cash spent, gotten lucky on a couple draft picks and watched lots of free gold vids to snag Crawford, Freeman and Heyward. Latest pickup is Ryu, who is 4-1 with a 2.51 ERA so far, and Torii Hunter, who is .310 in 11 games with 2 bombs and 8 RBI.
I could use a second baseman and shortstop, but Kipnis (.281 BA, 2 HR, 29 RBI) and Mercer (.316 BA, 3 HR, 19 RBI) are performing, and I am content for now. Could really use a lefty reliever but my bullpen has been ferocious. Can't recall the last time they blew a lead for me, they have been completely lock down for me. Home runs seem a bit too few and far between, but my entire lineup is hitting .270 or better. Gotta be averaging at least 5 or 6 runs a game since I have had this exact lineup.
Top performers: Lucroy (.364 BA, 11 HR, 79 RBI in 477 AB), Gomes (.331 BA, 16 HR, 58 RBI in 342 AB), Cingrani (16-3, 1.86 ERA), and Rosenthal (3-0, 0.92 ERA).
Your team looks very solid. One suggestion I would make is to put John Jay as a starter in the outfield instead of Jason Heyward. They are both lefties, so that's a wash, but there is a big difference between a hitter with an 8 rating vs a 6, probably .50 in batting average. If Heyward is batting around .275 to .290, expect Jay to bat in the .320 to .345 range (depending on your upgrades).
Lawman, I have strongly considered doing this. Heyward is finally starting to cool down after being one of my most clutch bats over the last couple weeks (has 60 RBI in 63 games, batting .311) this is the move that I have been considering for a little while, and now that I have another person telling me I should, I'm gonna put him in for a week or so and see how it goes.

I second this. I know stats are hard to compare but Jay hit .390+ for me as a starter, albeit with minimal power. The difference between a 6 contact and an 8 contact is huge!
I appreciate it guys. Still early on but I have 5 games in progress with Jay replacing Heyward in the outfield. He is currently 4-13, 2 of those 4 hits being RBI dubs, and 1 walk. If he stays at a good pace, I have no reason to place Heyward back in the lineup.

I know my lineup is lefty strong, but I crush with lefties. I also love the contact and speed. Span 374 yelich 376 Murphy 378 Freeman 363 blackmon 330. My righties are great too. Harrison 370 arenado 330 Lucroy 380 and Reyes at 338.
Very nice Surfin, you have a great all around team! No weaknesses I can see. Have you ever tried Sandoval at 3rd in place of Arenado? Ratings are very similar, but Sandoval is is a switch hitter. Neither is a base stealing threat, and 5-6 power is fairly close. Each is a 7, but like I said you can probably add at least .25 if not a bit more in average with the Panda.
hey Lawman, I actually had Sandoval at starting DH for a very long time. I love that he's a switch hitter! But recently his avg and slugging have been dropping. Hitting 348 which is about 18 points higher than arenado, but arenado is slugging nearly 60 points better. And it is nice having a switch hitter come off the bench! If arenado starts doing worse if course Sandoval will go back in! Thanks for the input!
My weakness is obviously relief pitching. I've just had no luck there. I do have other guys like Chapman 9 1 9, Rosenthal 9 3 8 and so on, but nobody above 4 stars. Not sure if those would fit in better in my lineup. It seems like Rosenthal was getting killed as my closer, especially against legends. This lineup has treated me well though. I just got to game 7 against Legends and lost. It was as close as I have gotten so far. If you want to play, my team name is Fockified.
I like your team! I don't think your relievers are weak at all. I would put Rosenthal in Cotts place (I have all right handed relievers) and make Farquhar my closer and switch him with Fien. Maybe Rosenthal as a set up guy might work better for you. I like Farquhar a lot, and think he is pretty tough to hit.
Hey eyefish, how has Crawford and Gordon performed for you? I would consider putting Martin in for Gordon. I know the power is 4 less, but he has a 7 for hitting and 9 for speed! You can never have too much speed!
Gordon has been ok. and I just put crawford in the starting lineup. had martin in there for a long time. Problem for me is they both hit left handed with exactly the same stats plus i have raji davis as inactive again with the same stats he is how ever right handed.
Eyefish, what I like about your starters is that with the exception of Gio Gonzalez they're all right handed. That is good for when you face Legends and teams with dominant right handed hitters. I also like your rotation order. As I've pointed out on this thread, I personally believe it's better to have right handed relievers. I would make F. Rodriguez my closer and have Leone as the set up man for him. Put McGee in Leone's slot. Getting 5 star players is either great luck or $$$.
Without a doubt Eyefish. Unless there is a great disparity in rating, a right hander will fare better in this game. Obviously if a team has a stacked left handed lineup would be an exception.
Hey guys, I started a new team on my old device. Let me know what you think. I Just got to all star and I'm 43-12.
