Exactly the same thing happened to me (same event). I've been in contact with customer support repeatedly but nothing yet... I believe there was a lot of glitching going on when that event ended so I'm pretty sure it wasn't just us two.
It may have been a glitch - the same thing happened to me after the weekend event. It says I was kicked but actually wasn't. I'd suggest you take it up with GLU, as I suspect there are many others that had the same thing happen.
