I know you guys all hate being scammed and so as me. So I've decided to give out some tips on how to avoid being scammed. These aren't random. These are some things I have seen for myself across the Racing Rivals community. I hope these tips will help you out.
#1. Always avoid people with bad grammar. This can also go for speak easies as well. Players that have bad grammar can definitely be scammers. They are just five year olds looking for people to scam.
#2. Avoid players willing to give out free cars. I know not everyone that does this are scammers and usually the non scammers would do this if they really like you but if it's someone that probably only has like 10 cars, I'd say don't accept it. *This isn't 100% confirmed*
#3. Avoid beggers. If you come across someone really begging to trade for your car or maybe even wanting to pinks you, just don't do it. Often they will go ahead and say that they've been scammed before and say they hate scamming people but that doesn't matter because they can be scammers. Even if you saw that person get scammed in the same time when it happened still they can be scammers. Heck I've seen coon catcher *another scammer* got scammed in a lobby with him and later I traded my FPV for his Stella and he scammed me.
#4. Don't trust anyone under the age of 13. Kids looking to get cars from people for free.
#5. Avoid people selling all their cars for free when they are about to be done with the game. If they scam you, your car is probably gone for good. There's nothing you can do. Such as having a friend get that car back for you. Also if that person comes back online, then there's absolutely no denying it that they are a scammer.
#6. Anyone under 10k street credit and has a ton of cars. Do not trade with them. They are players that have scammed a crap ton of players for their cars. The same thing happen to me with Coon Catcher. He was under 10k sc and had a garage filled with like nearly 100 cars. Maybe not nearly 100 cars but I'm not going to go view his profile and see how many cars he has.
#7. Avoid cheap trades. If someone like for example is trading a Mclaren F1 GTR for your RX7, don't accept the trade. Only go for good trades like trading a Supra for someone's R34. *Don't know if gem cars really matter, like if people would only trade gem cars for a gem car.* Or trading for someone's car that is the same exact class as yours.
#8. Trade with players who's been playing the game for quite a while. The players who are Racing Rivals veterans that have been playing the game since day one can be trusted. From my experience it can be a bit difficult to trade with them, but if they accept to trade with you then do it. You don't need to trade with them if you want. I'm not forcing you to.
#9. Positive opinions from someone about your car doesn't mean they aren't scammers. This may be somewhat a silly thing to mention for some people and I could understand where they are coming from. When we see someone driving a car that really stands out, we always make positive statements about them. Unless of course, you have no taste in cars. However some could make positive statements about your cars in an attempt to scam you by trading. To be honest, this isn't 100% confirmed. However I had someone trying to put my Ford GTR against someone driving a maxed Zonda and a GTR for pinks which is incredibly unfair. This person did this because of my GTR Limited standing out. While we weren't trading, I'm still going to consider this scamming for trying to easily win someone's car. Remember folks, only do pinks if your car is tuned to the max.
#10. Trade with people on the forums. Still there are scammers wondering around the forums but there are a good amount of legit users on the forums. It's also best to trade with players that have been called "100% Legit" which it's guaranteed that they won't scam you.
#11. Liars and tricksters. Just because you see a user made a post about he or she getting scammed by a user doesn't mean they aren't scammers. It's best to look deep enough about the user and use the search bar to find any results for the user that posted that thread being considered a scammer by others on the forum. If you do see more then one post from another user complaining about him being scammed by the same user that made a thread about a scammer then you should not trust the opposing user. It's also recommended you check both posts for the replies it has gotten to see if it's true or not that the person is a scammer.
Anyways thats it. If you have any other tips you guys would like to share then feel free to share them as it would help traders greatly.
