Over the course of the last five years, Racing Rivals has grown into one of the most hardcore racing games in the world. This loyal community has spent countless hours competing in millions of races in “winner take all” fashion – all in the name of Turf Wars and pink slips.

However, all good things must come to an end… After spending time evaluating Rivals and its future – we’ve decided that it’s time to move on. Simply put, the revenue generated from Racing Rivals unfortunately no longer covers the cost of operations. This was not an easy decision to make.

On March 31st, 2019 – Rivals will be racing off into the sunset, and will be permanently shut down. Current players have until this date to utilize any accumulated virtual currency. We’ll be offering some massive reductions in the cost of crates, installs and repairs in addition to a reduction on timers as you race your way into the history books. Effective immediately, no new in-app purchases will be permitted.

In closing, a resounding and sincere THANK YOU to our extremely driven fans for your loyalty and dedication over the years – we hope you’ve enjoyed playing Racing Rivals as much as we’ve enjoyed creating it.

So I'm going to explain really how difficult it is to add cars to the game.

If we want a car, we need to approach the car manufacturer. Some companies, won't give out a license, some companies have exclusive deals with other companies, some companies want too much. Now, if the car manufacturer is interested in licensing their car, we begin negotiations. They provide us with a list of things we can and cannot do. Sometimes that means, you can't color it, or can't change it's appearance, or will not be used as a prize car, or must only be sold for high costs, etc. We also discuss how much the licenses will cost, do they get a cut of each sale, or is it a lump sum? Once that is agreed upon, we build the car for the game, and then that goes through an approval process as well.

We do that for each car. Each Honda, each Mazda, each Ford. It's a pretty involved process.

Now, as for S, R and R2... and R3 we would need to get licenses for cars that would fit those classes. These cars would be a bit more "top end". That doesn't come cheap. So when we do release cars in these classes, you'll probably see them as gem cars, or blueprint cars. Why? Because we're a business, and car companies are businesses, and we have to pay them, which means we need to make that money back... and make a profit.

We do have new cars coming up, and hopefully you will all like what we have in store for the next season, later this week we'll be sharing something exciting.

So yes, we agree, we need more cars, and we are working on that. Hopefully this summer you'll be pleased by what we have in store.

I've wondered what was up with some cars being gem-only, especially when they didn't even seem to be very highly desirable models. I didn't realize the car manufacturers got so much say in how a car is used in the game.

ok now i got it why racing rivals dont have much of r+ classes well as for me i dnt mind ofc buying cars with gems but thats an issue ofc

the bigger issue is the licence really didnt know about it apologies but still i mean car manufacturers supposed to know its an advertisement for their cars might also be A GOOD ONE for free :/ so why the heck would they ask this much ...greedy isnt good really anyways thats the manufacturer to blame

i still wounder howbother games do have tons of cars from different manufacturers are they licenced too ?
