I think that you should be able to remove non Game Center friends from your friends list. I have accidentally added three more friends because I was guessing their names and hit add contact , it is a pain having people on your friends list that you can not do anything with because if you don't use them in a movie or go on a date within about a week or two they just sit there cluttering up your friends list.
