Well it won't bother me much that they are now dropping atg's in November, because I don't plan on downloading the 2021 version for a long time haha.. the idea of starting over and chasing 300 max overall bxp players with one skill with glu's new box odds sounds as unappealing as sitting down on sand paper.

Haven't played much this entire month, pulled Boggs right away from a gift box - also pulled Porter earlier this week as well from a gift box. Last week or so pulled Mookie, Schoedentist, Kaline, and Damon. No point in chasing spending money or watching 500 videos a day on a weekend for gold anymore!

Yea I have slowed down significantly on farming gold as well... there is not a need for so much gold anymore. Glu has done everything possible to make people spend money on this game, so much so there is no point in spending excessive money or farmed gold. well during a global challenge in the summer, there was a daily dinger challenge, which showed numbers of around 15,000 active users daily (assuming people were just using their normal 1-3 dinger tickets per day, which except a small handful is a safe assumption)

It is definitely pre-determined regardless of gold spent (whether a lot or minimal). This year the ability (or not) to pull the top player comes in waves, so just spend your minimal 2500 gold FR + Cvc boxes, and that is usually enough to know if its your time to shine for that event or not. Thundercats has a silver tier team, so I could see how having a WOH +7-10% x factor would give him the extra push needed to win WOH. Same for a gold squad, but plat and diamond it doesn't make much of a difference.

This is exactly why I went F2P - at the rate everyone is able to actually pull solid players you don't even need to buy a field pass to level them anymore haha! Unless you are dropping $5k a month, but I guess from your post even those guys are being screwed by Glu now.

I doubt it, Columbus day is not really an observed holiday in most schools/companies/stock market. But, Glu is pretty desperate right now for revenue.
