Event rewards

There should be a period of time after an event starts to join a club before you are not allowed to get rewards,  I joined my club an hour after the weekend event started and now have to go the entire weekend, no matter how many points I put up with no chance of rewards at the end of the event. Seems like there should be a 1 or 2 hour window to still be eligible.
