The gifts are fine and will definitely help your team. It's a mixture of various XP and relevant player boxes for the month. Not much else to being VIP really other than the monthly newsletter containing some questions that need a response by a certain date for additional rewards from time to time. GLU also picks a VIP of the month to be featured in the newsletter every month and they get additional rewards as well. Not sure about the criteria for that though.
