So I wanted to bring this discussion back up after doing ten minutes of couch research. Today, we saw a slight improvement in that HOF was given a 420 max, but classic walk off hero still has 350 maxes, no pxp, HOF still has trivial amounts of pxp, and Slugfest is just plain dead. And, I would say that we have actually gone backwards, since pxp was extremely low in weekend boxes. So I wanted to see what we were getting at this time last year. As you can see, we had (albeit single skill) 445 max potm players as the walkoff hero reward in early august. Think about that. 100 extra max overall than what we have right now. In late July, we had prime players as the walk off hero reward. And, we also had prime xp and sluggers in Slugfest. Glu, this is what I'm unhappy about. We have an unprecedented redundancy and repetitiveness in this game, and we are 100 points of overall behind where we were last year, since last year had no HOF version of walk off hero. This is unacceptable and costing you money, and it's costing us enjoyment.

I like you @BlackFang4, but I've been drinking ad have no idea what the complaint is. I don't like that Soto 😂

I seriously doubt we see BXP players above 350 for another 2-3 months. I think it’s tike we accept that and move on. Black Friday sales are when they really picked up again with BXP players, minus a few 420 who only had 1-skill
that 1 cycle was usually the result of a lot of restarts and boosts.
And the “useless” player was actually very useful today. Cycling him up from P10 to D10 and then one more cycle for good measure allowed me to move a keeper from gold 7 to platinum 9 with the duplicate BXP. If I choose to level the skills on the useless player, he would be my 3rd best lefty (I probably will trade him in for another 19K BXP Wednesday though). Not too bad for free as opposed to spending 3-4K gold
PS: That Soto was horrible. Okay, maybe he wasn't horrible, but he was far from elite. I've heard the argument many times actually, but people tend to have fond memories of last year's WoH. I actually have sceenshots of almost every event and it wasn't until the end of the year when the rewards really jumped. At this time last year, it was hell. No thanks to grinding all day just to beat woh two to three times.
PSS: I challenge anyone to show me a player reward from WoH last year(pre-september) that had more of an impact than the current HoF rewards.
In short, if you find the game to be stale and you're still doing classic, maybe it's time to change course.
Seems simple and stupid, but you don't gain players by not gaining players. Ya gotta get the horses to pull the sled before you can run them in the race. Resources become an issue too. If you level every player you get, you're gonna run out pretty quickly. But saving resources for the "right" players requires you to...get the right players.
And that HOF player is usually a pretty damn nice player. so your team is a lot better. But it takes more than just one guy to beat that level. So the grind is in building the resources at the lower tiers. It's reasonable to see how that gets stale.
Sorry for the ramble, but I guess in short a better response to "classic is getting stale" is partially "you need to beat HOF" and partially "you need to find better players than what we should expect to get at the classic level of woh."

I think the balance right now is spot on - HOF is a rush when your facing the last few on level 6 and you have your video replay in your pocket. Especially at gold level where the difficulty is hard but doable with some planning and patience.
I keep a list of which batters I use on which pitcher for 5 and 6, and after experimenting and finding the best match ups it makes it so much quicker and less stress the following weeks - until they tweak the pitchers of course!
I'm generally fine with what Glu has done with WOH. I thought they stuck with 400 primes maybe a bit too long, and releasing 3Bs as the HOF reward for two weeks running was a little lame, but overall these are nits. Like others have said, I look forward to HOF now, to see what kind of player I can add each week. That's the most fun I have in this game.
My main concern is with the midyear reduction in available PXP. Yes, they added PXP to season rewards, which was huge. 22.5K PXP is available every 10 days or so. But reducing the amount of PXP in the boxes was a huge blow. I'm now looking at being able to cap only one prime per week. I understand keeping LXP limited at this stage, and can deal with the very long amount of time it will take me to level Edgar. But if I can't readily level the primes--the only players that can realistically add value to my gold team--then I'm going to get frustrated quickly. That's when the game gets stale: when I have better guys but no resources to level them.
Spending 500 gold for 300 LXP, or 1000 PXP, is kind of a slap in the face. Especially when the PXP was like 2800 or 3800 just a couple weeks ago.
