All-Star progression question

I recently got VIP. But my progression through 10 levels was mostly, if not all from money spent.
 Is there a way to progress through the levels without spending money?
 Yeah, I spent a few bucks, but I also grind majority of the time tapping away.

I've actually inquired about this as well, but so far, we've only been able to earn tickets in the early stages of silver and gold.
