The Global is, as was expected for 17.5 Snipers. Top 10 get the Emu, 9.83M/15.07M and top 30 get the Cassowary, 8.19M/13.43M.
Perhaps a little more surprising is another VIP with the Hecate 17.5, Tesla at 3500 Gold.

Good Morning ... no surprises for me here, I posted that there would be another TESLA VIP Event later on this week, I guess nobody listens or cares, so I'm done.

Anyways, I shall check in periodically, but I am in "extreme cruising" mode for the next couple of weeks until TIER 18 OR the next Heavy Global / VIP Event surfaces.

Drone development has resumed in earnest; "recycling" of the 8M XP monster parts I created a couple of months back is definitely on the agenda and it works fabulously. Ooh Rah. 740K (Strapped).
It took 3 Global (VIP) Events to acquire enough 18.0 STALLION parts; will deploy coincident with 17.5 MAGAERA (TIER 18).
GOAL: bring 17.5 MAGAERA up to "battle worthiness" by TIER 18, if not sooner.

Did you purchase a new weapon? I have seen this issue surface, almost every time that I get a new weapon. If take the algorithm 15-20 battles to straighten itself out.
You might want to re-think sticking with the WITCH. The 3rd levels of upgrades for the MAGAERA is only 2.77M each. I have found that with the MAGAERA upgraded to only 45%, I routinely drawing 250M, up to 260-270M vaults and the opponents are not that much tougher. I know that your WITCH is ungraded a lot further than mine was. What are the vaults that you routinely see with your WITCH?
Once I upgrade the MAGAERA further, I will post what the vaults have risen to.
The WITCH has has been fully upgraded for awhile now, but the vaults are smaller than SHORT RANGE opponents, which is why I've been battling SHORTS most of the time; I've also noticed that I get short battles presented to me most of the time; not sure if this has something to do with my a.r.s.e.nal or not.
LONGS: are between 200K-220K using the WITCH.
SHORTS: are anywhere from 250K to 350K which is why I choose these battles.
Now, based on what you've said AND what I've noticed after acquiring the MAGAERA, I may take your advice and bring the MAGAERA "online" before I had planned.

Are you serious? Defense power is usually the DEFENSE TIER (along with the base level), you know like 17.0 (11.8M) ... how the hell are you getting 100-280 opponents? Sounds like another bug to me ...
... or another spin on an existing bug that surfaced when you acquired the 18.5s; I don't think player health has anything to do with this one though ... you know the drill, screen shots and a ticket to our friends at CC. They're getting to know you really well down there *** SMILES ***
For another little nudge, the 4th level upgrades are only 3.65M each. I have been noticing that whichever weapon has the higher rating, then that is the battle type that I get presented to me more often.
When I was using the WITCH (9.14M), SR battles were offered more often than LR battles. Now that I have the MAGAERA (15.84M) compared to my JAHANNAM HEAVY (14.25M), I am seeing more LR battles.
Also, the MAGAERA makes the 2nd 17.5 weapon that the upgrades were much, much more cost effective that a 16.5 weapon. I know that I stopped upgrading the WITCH at 60%, because the 4th level costs had risen to 6.04M each, albeit, the MAGAERA Global had started.
OK you've just sold me. Upgrading the MAGAERA has just made it to the maintenance cycle ... just when I was going to devote more resources to my drone. But hey, in the scheme of things the TESLA takes precedence over the drone any day, anytime.

Definitely makes sense when you figure that we have at least 3 weeks before the next Tier comes out and depending on how much higher the vaults go, can make a big dent in paying for the Drone.

Not yet, I am sitting at 892.71M right now. I need to upgrade my 16.5 SNIPER TIGER before I can go any further in the Campaign Missions. My SNIPER is 15% upgraded. I have completed 5 of the 8.
I can't believe how many people are going after this weeks Global Sniper prizes. Right now, I have my usual 1700AP and this week, it is only good for rank #335. Usually, I am in the 200's approaching the 250 prize milestone.

Not to take anything for granted, I'll ask for the 3rd time ... this appears to be unique to IOS (at least Google Play has never seen it, new weapon or otherwise), did you report it to CC?
It has to be a system bug of some sort. I guess people have just learned to play around it, but I have never heard you complain about this until recently, so clearly it's getting worse since nobody gets new weapons more frequently than you.
I would rate this problem as "IMPORTANT" and needs to be resolved before facing these low reward opponents increases in frequency. Left unchecked, you may reach a point where the game is not playable ... yet again ... JEEZ

The "Drone Weapons Parts Recycling Program (DWPRP)" is now officially open for business. It works great and LITTLE ME is absolutely LETHAL !!!
However, when it's all said and done, when my average battle duration is between 30(long)-60(short) seconds the effectiveness of the drone as a weapon is rated as LOW to MODERATE. It is by definition a "support" component and that is as clear as crystal. Is the drone helpful during battles? Yes, without a doubt...
... can the drone kill? Sure, if you give him enough time. Sometimes it's nice to sit back and watch.

I was just wondering what prompted you to upgrade the STALLION?
I have nothing left to upgrade. I will fully upgrade both the Stallion and the Chainmail, rather than just throw the Diamonds away. Those upgrades will get me enough XP for one more Drone MG upgrade. I will probably take next weekend off, waiting for the upgrade and a new Tier.
