Help - 5000 followers!

So I'm at level 8, just completed the 'Go on 3 dates' quest, and got the call from Aubrey and Perry about the Gold Gala event thing. But problem is I have no way to get to 5000 followers, I have no other Quests, parties, events, gigs or anything to get more followers, I've gone to all the salons to see if I can do shifts and I can't. I know I can go on dates, but only have 2 contacts to go with and it'll take ages to do that. Any tips or is it a glitch with my game??
