@whammo911 Yup. :( This is why I came to the same conclusion as @Bigpredfan. They will be monsters in bronze and silver, but beyond that? I don't see it as being practical. Depending on how plentiful bxp is, maybe gold, but definitely not beyond that.
Most likely will not be opportunities for free leveling on them either via re-pull with them being 2018 players.

I think the design is for them to give you a nice boost to begin and then eventually have your keepers be obsolete in favor of all 2019 players.

I feel that the players you bring over can at least help you in WOH in the beginning. Once you win WOH enough, you will probably be getting players from the 19 version that are suitable and possibly even out rank the players we bring over.

not sure about outranking (assuming you bring top guns in the 530-550 range). If you start with the nerfed down 330 player, by the time normal people win a 330 in who your keeper may already be at 380 or so. Eventually they will catchup but probably towards the end of the season. Unless they plan to make it in the '19 season all the way to 600-650 for their new players and then the keepers will stay at their true max

@Houmy They're not from me and I'm not VIP. As far as the original poster? I'm not sure. I'll ask around.
I thought you had surpassed the "magic" number to become a VIP.

If there was a magic number in terms of time spent on the game? Whatever it is? I've exceeded it long ago. :)
If you're not having fun, you're losing.

Here is where I stand on this after a small time to reflect

it is much better than what we have had in the past. I’m the past it was a very small gift (maybe 1-3 #1 picks and a small amount of cash.). Now we get to actually bring some players over to get a head start on building the roster.

Where I think the issue is with the disappointment here is the build up. Imagine if we never had the tease the whole time. If they just dropped this news today, people would probably be responding mostly positively. The build up ends with disappointment. Hyped up too much for what it is.

they are also smart because if they had given away these details long ago, lots of people would had probably stopped leveling up some of the most expensive players like ATG. As of now, some people get an ATG and because of high cost of the special EVO to take them to Platinum and above, they just trade the ATG, get a ton of the special EVO and "hope" to get him again. Otherwise you cannot really use them past certain level like silver 10 or maybe gold 10. Now if they knew this since December, it makes sense to just keep the atg even if you don't take it past gold level. You keep it for the 19 season and it would be a top player without the expensive cost.

Regular cost to level up is 60 blue cash and 20 bxp. However, @Houmy will be thrilled to see that #skillsgate is alive and well in 19 too ;) .... just joking

But I don’t see a skill that is supposed to be active?

Hey just curiousity, the news mentioned something about them using different types of XP as they level up? Does this mean it will change from Blue XP to a large amount of legend XP if I bring my legends over?

The skills upgrade cost is a massive hurdle for me - by the time u can afford to get their skills to double digits to make then effective WOH guys, better players, much cheaper to evolve will probably be available. Getting skills to say 16/16 if it is 5 times more expensive would be a massive investment - right? Am I missing something?

Maybe (hoping 😂) skills at 5/5 will get WOH done in the early months

@Houmy I have the same decision. Who should I keep. DH Moliter, C Scioscia, 3B Boggs, OF Williams, or spend 20 for OF Phillies Harper? For you I think Jed and Hank make the most sense. Hank will cap at 550 eventually and Jed will help you win WOH to gather better players. But I do agree a great catcher was hard to find until 80% of the season was over. Thoughts?

I feel like it’ll be Black Friday by the time these keepers are really going to be top tier and doing damage.  So by the time we level up our keepers, all of the $20 500 overalls will be coming out again.  The toughest spots to fill for me all year were C and SS so logic says to take over those 2 spots.  But for the WOH dedicated players, I would think about buying that Harper and then taking over a lefty skills player and you’re all set.  Double righty skills and bring over the double lefty skills.  Then your pitcher of choice and call it a day.  By the time you worry about not being able to fill the C spot, there will be one for sale in the specials tab!

That is the exact reason I plan to keep Boggs with 2x rhp skill and goldy with late inning and lhp. It will be tough leaving jed but goldy has better hit/power.

@JdotChristopher that makes sense. Just hate to use Scioscia because his other skill is blowout. But you are right. I’m sure a valuable C will come available. So the best besides Jed is 1 righty specialist and 1 lefty specialist. And then top ace over top reliever. (Seaver over Gange)

Keep in mind that for the first half of the season the difficulty level in woh is lower and skills are a must, even if they do help

We can all hope 5/5 on the skills will help bc we won’t be able to afford anything more with the cost to level up the keepers being so much higher!

So the mild upgrade of Boggs to Harper is not worth it? Both have 2x RHP. Harper is slightly better in both hit and power. Don’t want to drop 20 bucks for that.

I guess I'll take Willie Mays as my righty.  Lefty I'm lacking a bit so I don't know if I'd take Jed or maybe even Rizzo from last weeks WoH.

The amount of Evo required to upgrade skills is going to be cost prohibitive though.  5x is pretty steep.

I bought Harper today to take vs RHP and I think I’ll take Beast in the NL East Castro to go against LHPs. I don’t have any ATGs. Would you prefer Castro over LL JD Martinez?

If that is the choice then JD....better hit rating and less speed/more useable juice

So all in all not bad, basically we will be taking legends over to 2019 and they will cost double the blue cash as legends and the same amount of legend xp it would take except we will be using blue xp...till someone starts leveling skills we have no clue what the actual cost ladder is..

Hey guys! Long time lurker on this forum and wanted to ask your advice on keepers.  I've got my two batters figured out unless I pull a miracle in the next few weeks.  Shawn Green (535 max, double walk off skill) for righties in WOH and Dusty Baker (535 max, walk off and late innings skill) for lefties in WOH.

But for my one pitcher, I have to decide between my ace Beast in the AL East Blake Snell (525 max) or my closer Gagne (also 525 max).  I know starters are obviously more valuable than relievers, but I feel like relievers are also a million times harder to come by.  After Gagne, my other four relievers are by far the worst players on my roster... and I only got Gagne a few weeks ago. What do you think?

If your starters are strong you won't ever need a reliever.

@whammo911 the blue cash and the bxp will be 5x the cost of regular 19 players, no matter who you choose as your 3 keeper players. The skills will also cost 5x their regular amount and will still have the same progression to level from cash, to evo, to bxp, to evo, to pxp, to evo, to lxp, to evo, to gold. The keepers will be set at 60% of their 18 ratings but will over time increase to 100% of their 18 ratings, presumably as you go from bronze to silver to gold, etc.

So, there are some barriers to quickly make your keepers true beasts immediately. The rewards right now are quite small and the first skill level is 50,000 cash (instead of the previous 10,000). In my test of using 3 players from a scrub team shown earlier, my new 19 team doesn’t have the cash yet to increase more than 1 skill on holiday Reggie 1 level. Reggie is currently B6 with an overall rating of 94, compared to 5star Blackmon at B10 with overall of 88 (from the single 5star specialty draft pick I received as a welcome to 19 reward). Certainly, a significant advantage in strength goes to the keepers right now, time will tell if the resources required to keep leveling these keepers becomes too much versus acquiring and leveling 19 players, just like the My Legend from 18, as was mentioned by others in previous posts.

Any info on the My Legend feature for ‘19? Can you create the player yet and are the options/cost the same as this year?

With that 5x pricetag, are you feeling squeezed in bronze as far as lvl'ing ANY players, not just keepers? Are the rewards comparable to 18 for bxp? I went too fast to gold and beyond and struggled, obviously, getting bxp in 18 and would prefer not to deal with that out of the gate in 19.
