you only get those if you're playing a real person. league, tourney, and quick games you don't get anything between innings whether or not you autoplay them. if you're not getting them against human opponents then i have no clue what's wrong. never happened to me before.

yes you do but for level 6-9 you have to use gold. cash is not an option for those upgrades. once you get all level 5 upgrades, leagues/tournies are pretty much the only thing you can use money for. late and second round draft picks should be kinda pointless by then.

just gotta be patient with the flamethrowers because most of them have low control. take until you get a strike and you can work yourself into better counts and hopefully draw a few walks. if they throw curves or sliders just lay off them. wait for a fastball or changeup down the middle. just gotta practice.

having a lot of inactive players and/or a lot of finished leagues causes a lot of lag so that could be the issue. sometimes the game just lags a lot though for one reason or another. the servers might be full. could also be your internet connection.
